The reality is that when coming to a stop, people never go 5 4 3 2 1, it’s normally 5 4 3 2 using first is just to low a gear, it’s purely for take off. The exception is sorry bikes where finding N can be near impossible on some bikes.

Finding 1 by just keep tapping down is just habit
