In a TV series / film, how are scenes where a baby becomes upset shot?

I’m currently watching TV and there was a scene where a baby began crying. I thought they may just edit the sound of a baby crying in, however you can see the baby’s face and the audio and video synced up so the baby must’ve been crying.

I can’t imagine they purposely make babies cry for these scenes so how are they done?

Babies love crying. You just wait till they’re in the mood, film it, then edit it in with the other parts. You probably wouldn’t pan to the baby crying in a single shot, there are cuts.
