Over DCT and such, etc.

Thanks!

I’m not sure I agree with the premise of the question. Dual-clutch transmissions are definitely popular among sports cars and supercars because of their quicker gear changes compared to single-clutch transmissions. They’re actually more popular among supercars than single-clutch. The main advantage of single-clutch transmissions is that, because they only have one clutch pack instead of two, they’re significantly lighter. Which is better depends on the design goals of the car, but most supercars go DCT.

Single clutch automated manuals were a stepping stone technology to the modern dual clutch transmissions we have today, they were more of a thing of the early 2000s than a thing on modern sports cars.

The biggest thing you’ll see with them today actually is people modifying these early 2000s luxury sports cars to be true manuals because mechanically the transmission is identical, just with some bits strapped on to shift automatically, so essentially all you need to do is cut a hole in the car and replace the electronic/hydraulic controls with a gear lever and clutch pedal.
