Single clutch automated manuals were a stepping stone technology to the modern dual clutch transmissions we have today, they were more of a thing of the early 2000s than a thing on modern sports cars.

The biggest thing you’ll see with them today actually is people modifying these early 2000s luxury sports cars to be true manuals because mechanically the transmission is identical, just with some bits strapped on to shift automatically, so essentially all you need to do is cut a hole in the car and replace the electronic/hydraulic controls with a gear lever and clutch pedal.
