I’m not sure I agree with the premise of the question. Dual-clutch transmissions are definitely popular among sports cars and supercars because of their quicker gear changes compared to single-clutch transmissions. They’re actually more popular among supercars than single-clutch. The main advantage of single-clutch transmissions is that, because they only have one clutch pack instead of two, they’re significantly lighter. Which is better depends on the design goals of the car, but most supercars go DCT.
