As far as I’m aware it’s true.

It doesn’t appear to require any particularly difficult to obtain chemicals, extreme temperatures or pressures, or anything like that. It would be hard to make significant quantities of reasonably pure methylamine in a sink, but there’s no particular reason why you couldn’t make it in your kitchen. Lots of chemistry can be done in your kitchen, it’s just not generally done because the precursors are hard to get or it has the potential to release dangerous byproducts (or the dangerous byproducts are guaranteed by the reaction chain used)

Well that and there’s not really much call for home chemistry these days since most any end product you want it for is probably reasonably available for cheaper than you can do it yourself or incredibly dangerous.
