A muscle trigger point is usually a “tight” spot caused from an injury or excessive stress. Your PT is pressing on the muscle to “loosen” the spot in theory. If you have a trigger point the damage is usually permanent and regular PT has proven to be helpful in removing constant pain in those areas.
