my dryer has a sensor (two 6″ parallel contacts link below) inside the drum that measures the moisture in the clothing as they rub against it..
these sensors work best when clean and all items in the dryer are a like material..
If you have heavy towels and a couple light synthetic shirts, the shirts will dry and move to the front where the sensor is and the dryer will think the load is dry already (unless i bump up the more dry setting, so I just remove the light items, or only wash like materials together
