Nickel Allergy 🪙

I have a pretty severe nickel allergy. Contact dermatitis. I can’t have anything with metal touch my skin. Or I get a horrible rash. I understand how allergies to pollen etc occur. Like you inhale the pollen or dander and your mast cells or histamines release. But how does a nickel allergy work. Like the nickel isn’t being absorbed into the body

It is. Some nickel alloys can surprisingly easily release nickel ions on contact with skin, ions which can easily pass through your skin, after which they bind with proteins in your body to form immune response provoking compounds.
