So if you’ve been on an airplane before, you probably heard the FAs say “If you are seated in an exit row, you may be asked to assist the crew during an evacuation.” But what exactly does that entail you doing?

From my experience, your job is to open the exit door in the appropriate fashion.

I’m not sure if you’re responsible for the raft/slide? I think that inflates automatically if the door is opened for an emergency.

Then just get out and try not to fuck up things for other people.

Helping with opening the emergency door.

When I was living in Asia and flew a lot, I sat at the exit row very often as you have a bit more legroom there (I’m tall after all) and I’ve had detailed explanations by the flight attendants on how to open that door if/when needed.
