On an airplane, if you are seated in an exit row, what exactly will you assisting the crew with during an evacuation?

So if you’ve been on an airplane before, you probably heard the FAs say “If you are seated in an exit row, you may be asked to assist the crew during an evacuation.” But what exactly does that entail you doing?

From my experience, your job is to open the exit door in the appropriate fashion.

I’m not sure if you’re responsible for the raft/slide? I think that inflates automatically if the door is opened for an emergency.

Then just get out and try not to fuck up things for other people.
