A driving motor (DM), also called a motor car, has a cab for the train’s operator and is equipped with brakes and other controls. A non-driving motor (NDM), also called a trailer car, has no cab and no controls, but still has the same traction motors as a DM to provide for acceleration. Stock DMs have 42 passenger seats and are most often found at the front and rear of a train. Stock NDMs have 40 seats.
