Once I put my key in the ignition and turn the car on what are the sequence of events that take place?

Most i’ve seen in 68 years and why i’ve given up is as follows.
The key goes in, it turns the engine on and the brain off, the younger you are the sooner this seems to happen, not that it doesn’t happen to the older Know it all brigade it does thats why I stopped I could see me heading that way.
