Most i’ve seen in 68 years and why i’ve given up is as follows.
The key goes in, it turns the engine on and the brain off, the younger you are the sooner this seems to happen, not that it doesn’t happen to the older Know it all brigade it does thats why I stopped I could see me heading that way.

I think the main thing here is that engines have electric starter motors that start turning the main engine. Like ya know those old cars that needed someone to crank it to get it going, that’s still basically what’s happening, it’s just being done by an electric motor. The key is basically just an electric switch for the electric starter motor, it also has an encrypted chip that talks with the car’s computer to confirm it’s the correct key, and actually that’s all that really needs to happen for fob only keys
