People are able to consume large amounts of beer, sometimes even a gallon or more in 1 sitting. But to drink a gallon of plain water is extremely difficult. Why is it easier to drink so much beer?

Drinking a lot of beer, or more specifically, alcohol, makes your body want to get rid of it. Usually by peeing. You will pee out a lot of water with the alcohol. You will get thirsty, so you can then drink more beer. Fun times!

Beer is mostly water – if you drink a gallon of beer, then you have probably just had 95% of a gallon of water.

You simply *like* beer more. ;p

It’s the time span that matters. You don’t drink gallon of beer in 5 minutes. If you had to drink a gallon of water on the time span of whole evening (like you do with the beer) you would most likely do it. As others said beer is basically a flavoured water with a little bit of ethanol. If you can drink certain amount of beer you can definitely drink the same amount of water.

It is simply not. Try it, drinking e.g. 2 liters of water in 5 minutes is a lot easier than drinking 2 liters of beer.

Drinking a gallon of water is pretty easy. Imo I cam barely drink 25oz Of beer. It depends on your existing diet

A gallon of liquid is a lot. Even if it is “one sitting”, that’s going to take place over several hours. That’s 8 pints of beer or ten 12 ounce cans. I work at a craft beer bar, and we have some regular who will sit with their friends for 5+ hours and even they won’t drink an entire gallon
