You answered your own question. They’re smaller. They have less surface area and therefore they’re applying more pressure to the nerves that are around where they pop up. The same way you can lay on a bed of nails and be fine but if you try to stand on a single nail you’re gonna have a bad time
Bruise occurs mostly in deeper tissue, where there are fewer pain nerves. Pimples occur in the dermis and epidermis, which is loaded with pain nerves.
