what are ADAT channels ?

These are all entirely different signals, and will only work with other gear that is compatible.

Analog is analog, simple enough.

MADI is a digital protocol, it stands for Multichannel Audio Digital Interface. It can handle up to 64 channels. Plugging that into an analog destination won’t work.

ADAT is a fiber-optic protocol, transporting 8 channels
