Because it was put in glass bottles when that’s all that existed, then put in aluminum cans when they came along because that was cheaper, and then plastic bottles.

But some people find more value in the older packaging, and aluminum can be bulk packed easier — so cans have their place, as do bottles, and some people are willing to pay more for glass for nostalgic or environmental reasons.
