how do i figure out standard deviation. I (f15) have been trying to figure out standard deviation for a good 3 hours now and i still have no clue how to do it. I get the concept but it’s all over the place and i’m really confused. Any/all answers are appreciated!

find the average.

get difference between each number and the average. Square it

get the average of all of those squared differences. That is the variance

Now square root the variance, and you have the standard deviation

It’s essentially a measure of how spread out the values in a dataset are from the mean. To calculate it, you’d typically find the difference between each data point and the mean, square those differences, then take the average of those squared differences, and finally, take the square root of that average. It might seem convoluted, but with practice, it becomes clearer.
