The earth’s magnet is very very strong, and very very large, but it’s much further from us because it’s deep under the earth’s crust. Magnets that we can make are much smaller and much weaker, but because we can get really close to them and do other tricks like focus the shape of their field, they can be more powerful. It’s like comparing a breeze vs blowing with your breath: the breath seems more forceful against your hand but the breeze can move clouds and rustle all the leaves all at once.

Bonus fact: the magnetic force is actually due to electrostatic attraction where electrical charges moving at a non-trivial fraction of the speed of light experience length contraction due to special relativity, and therefore seem closer together compared to the non-moving charges. This imbalance of density of charges creates the net electrostatic force.
