Why is everyone so hung up on your total points scored in fantasy football? You only have to outscore 1 team each week. If you don’t do that enough, you don’t make the playoffs. What am I missing?

Every league and its rules are different but total points can be a tiebreaker when it comes to who makes playoffs.
Players often also complain because it doesnt feel fair if they have the highest total points but miss playoffs because it means they got super unlucky and probably were very unlucky to face opponents who popped off only on weeks against them and so theyd have a huge number of points against them. It does truly feel like bs if u have the highest points but miss playoffs at times. To counteract this bad luck, some leagues reserve the final playoff spot for whoever has the highest points total, assuming they didnt make playoffs. If they did, it works like a regular playoffs qualification.
