Why is everyone so hung up on your total points scored in fantasy football? You only have to outscore 1 team each week. If you don’t do that enough, you don’t make the playoffs. What am I missing?

It probably depends on the league but, when I played Fantasy Football, Total Points Scored was used for tiebreakers in the event that two teams end up with the same record at the end of the “regular season”.
It’s possible a league might also award a prize for highest TPS in addition to whoever wins the championship.
