using a socket wrench

136 views

I can’t seem to figure how to use a socket wrench. I’ve watched videos and understand righty tighty lefty loosey. There’s a switch on the back that allows you go to right or left. Problem I’m having is, let’s say I want to loosen, I set it to the left and turn left and it’s just stuck/jams. Doesn’t seem to turn. The other issue I’m having is when it does turn. It turns a little and then jams. Am I suppose to turn it and little til it jams, then bring it back, then turn it til it jams, then bring it back, etc.? Or should it just turn all in one go.

Put wrench on bolt, clockwise to tighten, anticlockwise to loosen, as you’re looking at it. The wrench will click effortlessly one way, but not the other.

Turn switch on back if clicking in your direction of travel, then turn. There are rare occasions for reverse threads, but as you cannot work a socket, let’s keep it simple, it’s really that easy.
