using a socket wrench

134 views

I can’t seem to figure how to use a socket wrench. I’ve watched videos and understand righty tighty lefty loosey. There’s a switch on the back that allows you go to right or left. Problem I’m having is, let’s say I want to loosen, I set it to the left and turn left and it’s just stuck/jams. Doesn’t seem to turn. The other issue I’m having is when it does turn. It turns a little and then jams. Am I suppose to turn it and little til it jams, then bring it back, then turn it til it jams, then bring it back, etc.? Or should it just turn all in one go.

You’re better with clockwise/anticlockwise. Turning to the left of the handle of a wrench is turning clockwise, which is tightening the bolt. Just hold the socket and check it’s going to be turning the correct direction and ratcheting the other way etc, easiest way to figure it out instead of the righty tighty thing, lol.
