I’ve noticed on most TV footage from that era it’s quality inconsistent.
Some are clear but with low resolution and others being like it’s being filmed from a camera pointed in the tube.
It may be the ladder cause back then there wasn’t a method to record live TV but was that the reason some footage look flashy and high contrast?

The video tape recorder was commercialized in 1959 by Toshiba. Recording TV is a very difficult process, it has a lot more bandwidth than audio tape. Much of TV was done live, and directly broadcast.
Before 1959, TV could only be recorded on a [kinescope](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinescope ), transferring the tube image to motion picture film.
