I always thought art prints were just easily replicable copies of original art and were otherwise cheap and worthless. I literally thought they could just be a piece of original art that was copied and reproduced from a printer… but it seems like a print of a famous piece can be quite valuable.
What exactly are art prints and why can they have lots of value even though they aren’t originals?

Worked in lithography for a while. The reproduction of a piece holds incredible accuracy. Where I worked we numbered the piece and the artist signed each one. We then destroyed the overruns (I got paid to destroy art!). Check out [https://greenwichworkshop.com/](https://greenwichworkshop.com/) for more information. I worked with Bev Doolittle for some of her reproductions.
