Do they participate in espionage like in the movies? Like Argo

This doesn’t specifically answer you’re question but I’ve noticed a few people in the comments are mistaking what the Embassy actually is; the embassy are the governmental staff who work in the building. The building in which they work is called the Chancery.

If I was actually explaining this to a 5yo I’d say something like: Imagine the world is gigantic game of tag. Every country is a like a different playground and all the people from those countries are teams. An Embassy is your teams den when your playing in another countries playground. The people in your den, or embassy, are in charge of making sure your team is treated fairly and following the same rules as everyone else when you’re playing in another playground.

Probably a dumb question, but do embassies keep the same times as their respective country? Like, does the German embassy in United States operate on the same time zone as Germany, or regular US hours?

Adding to this question… do countries allow/care for the foreign embassy’s in their country?

One thing they are is a not so secret cover for foreign spies to operate under the guise of diplomacy. It’s like a home free space in tag for spies to work out of.

Also, why does Ghandi keep trying to setup one in my country?

The embassys take care of of their citizens in different countries if im not mistaken.

I used to get treatment in the US for a condition i had. The embassy helped me with booking hotels, the hospital appointments, insurances and many other things.

When covid happened first, embassys from all over the world help take care of their citizens who are traveling like the US embassy taking care of Americans who are stuck in other countries.

Thats like the basic stuff though, not sure what happens internally
