Self lubricating plastics are typically used in industrial settings or in bearings. They are plastics which are engineered to have low friction coefficients by releasing lubricants – either as resins that are part of the plastic composition themselves, or as additives such as waxes or Teflon based composites. These plastics have such a low coefficient of friction that they do not need addition lubricating to protect against wear or inefficiency, resulting in lower maintenance over their lifetime.
Self lubricating picture frames are simply picture frames made out of this plastic for no practical reason at all.
