Craft is a more accessible form of “making” objects that can be used for a function or for decoration. Think birdhouses, pottery, wreaths. Craft usually has a fairly low threshold of skill for entry, and the work is typically appreciated in large part because of its function.
Fine art typically has a higher skill barrier, and the resulting artwork may have cultural or expressive qualities that aren’t as immediately attractive as craft. The purpose of fine art is usually art for art’s sake, especially since the invention of the camera.
