FIA make the rules and govern the sport like FIFA for football. Formula 1 refers to the cars there is also Formula 2. Liberty media owns the commercial rights to run the races and sell the TV pictures. Teams pay liberty media a fee to enter the championship, race tracks pay a big fee to host a race, sky pay a big fee to show the races.
