What causes light to pass through some objects?

Does it have to do with density? Also how do reflections work in this sense?

Kinda, but not really. The smart answer is: “not density but transparency”

the more sciency answer is: Permeability and Permittivity.

Light is an electromagnetic wave right? That means it has to be “transparent” to both electric field and magnetic field.

The measure of how “transparent” an object is to ELECTRIC field is called Permittivity.

The measure of how “transparent” an object is to MAGNETIC field is called Permeability.
