Do your nerves shut off when there is not enough blood around?

Why is there a lack of blood? If you’re sitting or sleeping awkwardly, and your limb “falls asleep”, it’s the nerves that are getting pinched. Instead of transmitting proper sensation, they transmit noise. The origin of the noise is from the pinch point, but your brain doesn’t know that, so it feels like the limb itself is tingly. Any lack of blood may be caused by the same squeezing affecting blood vessels.

Fun fact: if your limb falls asleep completely, or if you have some specific kind of nerve damage, it can start feeling like it’s someone else’s limb. It happened to me once with my arm while I was sleeping, and I was lifting the annoying thing out of the way when I discovered it was attached to me. Then it got all tingly and soon returned to normal.
