What chemical reaction do drugs have (in particular MDMA) that makes us more sociable and why can’t people just “be like that” when they’re sober?

It’s also important to note the effects vary.

I did MDMA recently and it was horrible. I felt irritable, jittery, and had a week long depressive episode afterwards.

So while it may make a lot of people more social, it made me want to hide in a closet and sleep for a week.
