What determines if sand is deposited or eroded ?

So I know the sea erodes the beaches and coast lines. But doesn’t the sea deposit the eroded soil somewhere? What determines where soil is eroded and where it’s deposited?

Probably not the best explanation, but when sand is being eroded, it’s because of a wave energy or a current that’s strong enough to carry it to a stream/path. Deposition has to do with mainly how heavy a sediment is, and the speed/strength of the current carrying it. When the sediment is too heavy to be carried on or the current pushing the sediment grows weaker, that’s when the sediment is decided to be deposited.
