Like… I understand that if a person has a “fast metabolism” they will poop a lot.
But what I’m specifically curious about is inside the stomach, what’s going on in there? Are they just digesting food really good? Do they have like, MORE stomach acid? Is it about lungs? Is it cause they move around more so they breathe more?
But that can’t be right, I have a little cousin who doesn’t move a lot but she still poops super fast after a meal so like… And I also REMEMBER being 9 years old and being really skinny and pooping fast too but I never understood WHY.
I’m actually curious, thanks in advance!

What you’re describing is digestion, different from metabolism. The average sedentary person will burn about 15 calories for every pound of body weight. A fast metabolism just means you burn significantly more calories than average. This number varies depending on many factors including genetics, hormones, age, body composition. For example, someone with high levels of thyroid hormone will burn more calories than someone with lower levels. A muscular person will have a faster metabolism than a fat person at the same weight since muscle is active tissue which requires more energy to maintain. Teenagers and people in their 20’s burn more calories than older adults which is why most people gain weight as they age.
