Having a newborn suddenly appear in your life is incredibly stressful, even if there are two parents working together. Skin-to-skin contact helps everyone destress and bond. It’s just as important for the parent that didn’t give birth to build that skin-to-skin bond, and it’s especially important for the mother if she is breastfeeding. The newborn may be eating as often as every two hours(including at night) which makes it pretty hard for the mom to get a good night’s sleep.
