Satire is a form of humor where you take something that you want to criticize and exaggerate it highlight the flaws. A lot of times this is used to criticize political issues. A classic example is an essay called “A Modest Proposal” by Jonathan Swift. In that easy, Swift was making an argument that poor people in Ireland should sell their children to the rich English to be eaten. This wasn’t a real proposal. Swift was trying to mock the British’s heartless attitudes towards the Irish by exaggerating it.

A satire is a comedic interpretation of a real-world situation, often relating to politics. For instance, an imitation of a Donald Trump on saturday night live would be considered satire. It can sometimes blur the lines between comedy and drama, where the latter makes you think differently about something in reality by highlighting things in a fictional setting. In general, though, its normally comedic.

Satire is usually a comedic spoof of something but with exaggeration on key aspects.

An example is the TV show “spitting Image”, where they take politicians and celebrities, make rubber faced puppets of them with overly pronounced features and then crank their personalities to 11.

Nothing is off the table in satire because it is deemed as light hearted humour.
