What does the lateral orbital wall do in animals?

Looking up vestigial organs and I know the orbitalis currently does nothing in humans, but it says it might lower the later orbital wall in animals. But I’m not entirely sure what function that would serve, like something that protects your eyes from damage if there’s trauma to the area? idk

In some animals, the lateral orbital wall may have additional functions specific to their species. For example, in certain animals with a lower lateral orbital wall, it could provide extra protection for the eyes during activities like hunting or fighting, where there is a higher risk of eye injury.

However, in humans, the lateral orbital wall (specifically the orbitalis) is considered to be a vestigial structure, meaning it has lost its original function through the course of evolution. It no longer serves a significant purpose in protecting or supporting the eye.
