Smash 2 things together. Side that touches other side gets roughed up. Side that doesnt get touched, doesnt get roughed up

The other issue to me is that. especially with things like pants, is that all of the dead skin that has accumulated on the inside gets out better.

Everyone else is seeming to be answering with access to a dryer. I can’t speak for them, although my thoughts are, maybe their parents taught them to?

In my case I hang my clothes on a clothes line due to where I live, having plenty of constant sun, and turn it inside out to manage the fading from the sun.

If the clothes have metal zippers/buttons/clasps. Turning them inside out protects other clothes from catching or being damaged by them and protects the washer and dryer from knicks and scratches.

Although if you have pets the pet hair doesn’t seem to get removed as well when items are inside out.

For trousers at least, it cleans the part that actually touches your skin better. A lot of dead skin cells in jeans!
