What does Verily, Google’s life science company, do?

I know they’re involved in the digitalisation of healthcare, but how do they earn revenue? What’s their business model?

Any notable projects or initiatives that I should appreciate?

I’m not sure that this is Verily’s mission statement, but this is from their website:

>Verily is using its recognized expertise and capabilities in technology, data science and healthcare to enable the entire healthcare ecosystem to identify and deliver more targeted interventions that drive better health outcomes.

Their goal is apparently to create a new healthcare paradigm that’s more effective than the ‘one-size-fits-all’ method; this ‘precision health’ (their term) is intended to tailor the best course of action for a patient, using a more comprehensive understanding of the many factors that may affect the patient’s health situation.

Some initiatives that they’re currently pursuing include building an end-to-end digital solution for clinical research, using their ‘Immune Profiler’ tool to enhance and accelerate drug discovery, and using analytics and patient engagement to make doctor and patient aware of clinical and financial opportunities that they might not otherwise be aware of.

It sounds as if they want to use technology to put healthcare decisions more firmly in the hands of the patients.
