what exactly happened in the pillow/mattress industry that they all have to put those tags (in the US) that say do not remove this UNDER PENALTY OF LAW if you are not the consumer. It’s so dramatic and I deeply want there to be a story here

Seriously. And why aren’t there more products with similarly dramatic warning labels besides cigarettes. The thing most likely to kill me can’t be sleep, right?

People were putting new fabric over old furniture and selling them as new. The labels state that the materials used to make them are all new and didn’t come from a dumpster.
