what factors lead to a company being removed from the s&p small cap index? And what are the implications for such a company?

I do mean removed, and not just moved to, say, the mid-cap index.

The company being bought out, not meeting inclusion requirements, etc.

A company being removed from a stock market index has no implications on its day-to-day operations. It might hurt their stock price a little as fund managers like BlackRock remove the stock from their fund offerings but the company itself would not be impacted.
