Suppose a tractor is harvesting a field of grain, but the field contains, lets say, 1 plastic bottle. What will happen to the plastic bottle? Will it get shredded and contaminate the grain?

If it makes it into the machine it gets shredded and will be mixed in with the grain. There’s no magic plastic magnet that pulls it out.

It will get diced up and most it not all of it will get blown out the back. Combine harvesters break up what comes in and separate out grain from everything else, a plastic bottle will act much life a leaf stem and get spit out of the back of the machine.

Food plants have machines where they launch products across an air gap and cameras look for anomalies and use perpendicular air jets to blow foreign material to a reject bin. Plastic would be the wrong color so it would be rejected. If it flies differently it would be rejected as well.

They have metal detectors too
