what happens in your brain when your mood goes down due to a negative experience?

So, today I woke up in a really good mood and ready to take on the world. By noon I ended up having a fight with my spouse, and it really drained me. During this short fight my mood and energy levels went to zero, and as a result I felt exhausted, and that I just want to spend the whole day on the couch. I feel like it is a hormone thing. What kind of things happen in the brain when this happens? Do some kind of feel-good hormones drain away when you have a negative experience like this? Motivation is gone, energy is gone, but I know I will feel normal again tomorrow when I wake up.

When you experience a negative event or situation, your brain processes this information and can trigger changes in your mood.

One of the key brain structures involved in regulating mood is the amygdala, which is responsible for processing emotions like fear, anxiety, and anger. When you experience a negative event, the amygdala can become activated, and it may send signals to other brain regions that can cause you to feel sad, anxious, or stressed.
