What happens to the connecting organs after an organ is removed?

My mother had a total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingectomy due to uterine adenocarcinoma. Basically, this means they removed everything but her ovaries. This boggled me because I though the ovaries only connected to the fallopian tubes (which only connected to the uterus), meaning that now her ovaries are “floating around” her stomach. If thats truly the case, I would think her ovaries would rot inside of her. So, what happened to her ovaries? More broadly, how do they deal with organs after the removal of connecting organs.
