Seeing lists of the biggest spiders in the world, the vast majority of them seem native to South America, especially Brazil. Is there anything special in that region that contributes to spider gigantism?

Easiest answer to reach for is evolution. Spiders evolved that way as those genetics were preferred among those species. So those traits became dominant. Simple as that.

More trees.. more oxygen.. more oxygen.. bigger insects.
Read about the relationship between oxygen levels and living things size.

Added:
Oxygen is important for the exoskeleton of insects to be harder which will make it easier for the body to grow it bigger

Wind mix has an a affect.. like in sahara

But around trees it’s gonna be more oxygen,
Especially if it’s cold and didn’t rain that day.
