What is a curated data layer?

Where did you hear this phrase? I suspect this is marketing spin as I understand constituent parts but haven’t seen the whole phrase.
Curated data is data that has been reviewed and edited by a human to ensure only high quality data is used. You could get a raw list of restaurants in your area by searching online. But some may be incorrectly listed, have shut down, etc. If you verified all the businesses, you’d have a curated list.
A data layer is the part of an application that deals entirely with data. It doesn’t deal with other concerns like services, user interfaces, etc.
I have a feeling you’ve read some marketing material that is really saying “we use curated data” but they’ve phrased it as “we have a curated data layer” to try to sound more authoritative.
