The reason why wildfires or bushfires can become firstorms is the superheating of the fuel in front of the fire. When the heat from the fire begins to dry the fuel in front of the fire (leaves, trees, branches) this causes them to combust much faster and with a higher heat which perpetuates the burning.
There are also fire tornadoes that can arise, and that is due to the what oxygen flows into the fire. The heat involved in burning it causes a column of air to rise. This in turn draws in massive amounts of oxygen from around, when this his the right way, it begins to spiral and again it perpetuates itself due to the increasing heat in the centre of the column.
