“practical” means “in practice,” in other words in the actual attempt to do a thing.

so a practical concern is a problem or issue that isn’t about the idea behind a thing, or any kind of theory. it’s a problem or issue related to actually DOING something.

so like, as an example, say i want to drive my car 200 miles per hour. there are moral and legal concerns about doing that, but they can’t stop me from actually doing it if i want to.

the PRACTICAL concern is that my car won’t actually go that fast. in practice, even if i wanted to, i could not do it.

Concern = something I think will be an issue (I’m “concerned” about something)

Practical concern = something I think will be an issue when we try to put our idea in practice. Usually something about organisation (who does what?), method (how do we actually do it?) or physical constraints (size constraints, time constraints, the fact that an object is broken, …).

For example “Let’s cook tomorrow afternoon to prepare a big meal for the evening!”, “Great idea! I just have one practical concern: we’re all busy tomorrow morning, the fridge is empty, and as far as I know you’re not able to create food out of thin air.”
