what is a third party FOA application?

Hi Reddit, first time posting here.

I work in customer services in the UK and a customer managed to contact me on a non-work related email. I asked how she got my info expecting her to say LinkedIn (like an idiot I forgot to change the privacy setting when I stopped job hunting). The customer she has more info on me. Can someone and tell me what this is? (I have googled it but no clue what it means) and what information can you obtain?

Do you mean a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request? Any public body which has information about you must ask your permission before releasing it to a third party.

A local solicitor can give you better advice, and won’t charge for a quick 15 minute consultation. Or ask the Citizen’s advice bureau first if you prefer.
